Materials Expected Back Update

A Site Administrator called with a clarification question. We ran a couple of tests on what the outcome would be.

In all of the cases below, the Materials Expected Back function is activated on the Site for automatic Receiving list notification. A date has been populated on the Timeline entry, either by the system’s default function or manually.

I shipped an On the Fly item marked will NOT return:
The system preformed a check of the Receiving List for the Project. The system recognized that there were no items expected back. It sent a Receiving List Notification as it was programmed to do with the message. No matching Records were found.

I shipped an On the Fly item marked will return:
The system preformed a check of the Receiving List for the Project. The system recognized that there was an item expected back. It sent a Receiving List Notification as it was programmed to do with the message. That the item was appropriately marked Missing/Not Returned.

I shipped an Inventory Asset but then Transshipped that Asset to another Project:
The system preformed a check of the Receiving List for the first Project. Recognized that there were no items expected back. It sent a Receiving List Notification as it was programmed to do with the message. No matching Records were found.

BOL: NLT or TARGETED that is the question! Or was till now.

After only 27,788 shipments we have a winner!

While most of our sites use shipping, not quite as many take advantage of our document printing. So perhaps the following can be somewhat more understandable.

When we implemented automated BOL creation our Deliver date just never understood that some shipment were NLT (NOT LATER THAN) and others were Targeted. There was a check box on the Project Default address and Add/Edit Shipping screens. We tracked and reported this data point on all of our reports… but somehow forgot to tell the BOL. It thought every shipment was NLT.

This oversight only lasted 27,788 shipments. At that point a new site with a dedicated shipment manager noticed the error. That lucky winner got a smiling acknowledgement that he had found the hidden secret; and of course I immediately changed his password to slow down his enthusiasm for improving our code. Just kidding!

So if you use the BOL or you just having nothing more exciting to do at the end of the day on a Friday the 13th, make a shipment and watch the BOL as you check and uncheck the Shipment’s Delivery Address Targeted check box. May not seem like a big deal but when it reaches 100 degrees outside almost anything that keeps you indoors can seem like a lot of fun.

I’ve include these views in case you are actually enjoying better weather and choose not to waste your time in such frivolous pursuits as I proposed.

More Transshipment Updates

We’ve add reminders to help you keep track of what you are doing.
Next time you elect to make a Transshipment.

This will help you remember to update your delivery address since you aren’t returning to the warehouse anymore.

And just in case you forget what shipment you are working on, look up in the screens title line.

This will help you remember you are working on a Transshipment.

You’ll see the above on the Add/Edit and Packing List screen for Transshipment after you select the destination Project.

Tip: Remember a Transshipment can only be edited from the originating Project.

Copy “TO” Packing List Notes in Transshipment

Before there was texting we used to actually pass a paper note in class.
Just thought I would share that remembrance with those of you who have never listened to an 8-Track player! Grand Funk ROCKS!!
Now you can pass the notes on your inbound shipment along to the next Project.

Users are utilizing the Transshipment tool more and more. Feedback from one team was that they placed several important notes on Assets going TO a Project. If they elected to Transship those Assets they had to re-type the notes. Their business practice made use of the notes tool on dozens of Assets, even though they could “cut & paste” it was a major pain.

Well cut & paste no more.

Located on a Transship Packing list is this handy new orange button.

Just be careful when you make use as it is a full copy down.

Tip: If you are using the Note tool a lot, to carry content information, perhaps you should call us to discuss other alternatives the system provides.
