No File name changes at Upload

I was a bit remiss in getting this change blogged. A beloved site administrator had to inquire about it in order for me to realize the fact; I didn’t share at the time of the change. Shame on me!

The File Name text box is no longer editable on a file upload. The system relies on the file’s name in order to properly maintain the Versioning code. We were experiencing last second edits by Users on the upload and the versioning was getting corrupted. Actually since the name was changed it thought it was an entirely new file. This on top of the fact the customer got confused because there were now two files with strangely similar names.

So you will need to edit the file name to your desired name before you browse, select and upload. And as the screen text says don’t change the name of a file once it has been uploaded the first time.

Note: To any site administrator experiencing an anxiety attack. All of the site administrators that we work with are much “beloved”.
