At last! Marked Improvement in PDF printing, the “Print/Email" button

While the morning started out great and then got a bit rocky for a couple of hours, we think we have managed to overcome the backward compatibility challenges and have the newest version of the PDF conversion tool running in production.

Our spot testing shows outstanding performance improvement across all reports. A benchmark would be that a 4-10 page report is generating in less than 30 seconds.

There is more fine tuning and we have not yet split the load across two servers. That splitting was a contributor to our issues this morning. For now we plan to run on the single server until any last bugs have had a chance to work their way out of the process. The PDF converter will eventually be up on both servers for even more improvement, especially at peak load points.

Note: Run times are down dramatically. However when you Print a large report just think of how long it takes when you send that same report to a printer. And if your company has shared printers keep in mind what a wit can be like at the printer stations, when everyone prints at the same time.
