After only 27,788 shipments we have a winner!
While most of our sites use shipping, not quite as many take advantage of our document printing. So perhaps the following can be somewhat more understandable.
When we implemented automated BOL creation our Deliver date just never understood that some shipment were NLT (NOT LATER THAN) and others were Targeted. There was a check box on the Project Default address and Add/Edit Shipping screens. We tracked and reported this data point on all of our reports… but somehow forgot to tell the BOL. It thought every shipment was NLT.
This oversight only lasted 27,788 shipments. At that point a new site with a dedicated shipment manager noticed the error. That lucky winner got a smiling acknowledgement that he had found the hidden secret; and of course I immediately changed his password to slow down his enthusiasm for improving our code. Just kidding!
So if you use the BOL or you just having nothing more exciting to do at the end of the day on a Friday the 13th, make a shipment and watch the BOL as you check and uncheck the Shipment’s Delivery Address Targeted check box. May not seem like a big deal but when it reaches 100 degrees outside almost anything that keeps you indoors can seem like a lot of fun.
I’ve include these views in case you are actually enjoying better weather and choose not to waste your time in such frivolous pursuits as I proposed.
