This may seem unfair but it is the result of customer driven need.
Many sites running the system, do not always involve all of their customers. Despite, this rather selfish approach, they do want a record of who they executed the Project for as a contact reference and stored in their archives.
As a result.
Create a Project:
- Disabled Internal Users: Do not appear in the Project Owner Drop Down, since you would not want to assign that role to a User who does not have access to mange the Project and would appear on all the printed documents as the emergency contact. Internal Project Owners also receive a variety of automated alert messages.
- Disabled External Users: Do appear in the Project Owner Drop Down, since many sites use the system without involving their Customers. However they still want the correct customer information on all the printed documents and for them to appear on the Project for reference and reporting.
But Tasking is different:
- When assigning a Milestone in the Timeline or creating a Task, a Disabled User, regardless of rather they are an Internal or External User will not appear in the Drop Down. You would not want a Task assigned to a User who can not access the system.
And so are Work Orders:
- Distribution of Work Orders, allows for a Disabled User, Internal or External to appear in a distribution group. However, it will not allow an email notification to leave the system in either case.
And don't forget Go2Show:
- Won't send emails to disabled Users. This is again a reflection of the fact some sites want the customer to appear associated to a Project but they don't really want the customer aware of the system.
Remember when you consider the above......
