Administrators take note

We have isolated two issues that have been the “hidden” cause of confusion and performance issues in the past. I would like to call your attention to them.

Asset Types
It appears, that on occasion, when establishing a new Asset Type that the entire create sequence has not been carried out. By that I mean clicking through to the final screen to set the Days Before and Days After settings, as well as establish at least one attribute for the Asset Type. In this case the Asset Type is not properly registered with the db and issues can occur.
While we cannot compel that you do this, we have added a text warning to this point, but knowing how reading text on screens goes, I thought I might also call your attention to the situation in the blog as well. Between the two efforts and our awareness of this fact, when an issue is reported we can likely save time by not chasing the illusive non-bug.

 Location, Location, Location
In real estate it is everything. In the e-Info code it is a “pain”. One of those wish we had never invented it things. Because the effort to find an Asset location at the instance level is so complex and frankly takes a lot of processing we have a couple of screens which were never intended as real time locators of an Asset, but have a Location value, a mistake on our part. Users have taken to looking these screen at to determine Location, why not it is there after all, or at the very least noticing that this screen does not match a report that is real time.
We don’t want to remove the Location value as it does have value so we have added an Alert statement (that screen text thing again) to help inform the user. Like above this is just a note to help make you aware.
