Administrator’s Update on User emails

Many sites elect to not use the automated sequence to send their customers a login and password create invitation. In order to spoof the system the administrator creating the user places their own email into the new User’s email address which is a required field during creation. They then update that address immediately after the create sequence finishes or at some later time when they decide to invite the User to enter the site.

On a User’s Summary screen there WERE two locations to edit a User’s email address. One is located under the BB User Information and second under the Contact Information BB. The email under ber one is a “validate” field as all fields are required on a Save. The Second BB cannot be a "validate" value the email address value, since there are twelve additional contact formation fields and all are optional, including the User's primary email address value.

What we discovered today while addressing a bug involving User number 14,512 is that if you can open the Contact BB and save without an email value. The Value is there when you open the edit screen but you can erase the defaulted email value shown, the one validated for the User under the first BB User Information. Not Good. And no more!

This is a long way of explaining that if you want to edit a User’s email address you will have to use the “validated” email address value under the User Information BB. We have removed the non-validated email address field under the Contact Information BB.

Note: Congratulations to our lucky site administrator for finding something entirely new after 14,512 User creations! And the rest of you, sadly, have forever lost the opportunity to create loads of fun for us here at calan.

PS . But just  from this little piece of code. So don't abandon all hope.
