Add/Edit Budget gets a lot of new features added

Users provide the input to improve the Budget tool set.

Responding to your requests, a number of new features have been added with several more new things yet to come.

Using the familiar Push Pin functionality you can now add text at the front of your Budgets financials. This can be done on the fly by Budget or set as a default at the Company or global at the Site level if you have standard boiler plate, terms & exceptions. Contact us if you are interested in either of the latter two settings. If you don’t use the new text feature your Budgets won’t change.

Using the same Push Pin functionality you can also add opening comments to the Variance Report in front of the new line item variance report feature (see below). This function is always by Project. There is no Company or Site global setting available. If you don’t use the new text feature nothing will appear between the financials and any individual Service Item notes you might add.

Yes, yet another use of the Push Pin functionality. You’ll find a second Push Pin in the Service Item row on the Add/Edit screen. When you use this Push Pin, the system will insert the Service Item along with the actual variance amount at the bottom of the Budget Variance Report screen, following the new Variance Notes function just described above.

Ok, enough with the Push Pins! But there is still more to share.

The checkboxes that determine if a Customer user can view the Budget information have been renamed to better reflect their function from Final to “Display”. The functionality remains the same. In addition two new icons now grace the screen. Each calls a second window pop-up for viewing your work. This allows you to see what your finished product will look like without having to exit the screen and run the report, a real time saving addition.

Last but not the least by many User accounts is the requirement to constantly post a saved copy of the Budget or Budget Variance Report to the Budget/Actual folder on the Project Home Page. That is your choice with the addition of the new button Done /Post. This button won't activate however until you have clicked the Display Checkbox above for the Budget or the Variance Reports prevents inadvertently posting to a folder before you are ready to share.

There is more to come on splitting budget dollars across multiple Customer Users both at a Project and a Service item line level but that is still a few weeks away.
